As an innovation of a business model
R&D is our core principle. A total of 7% of total sales is reinvested in R&D to anticipate customer needs and provide advanced solutions. An additional 3% of sales is regularly invested in production process technologies to ensure continuous improvement and growth. CAREL also operates two research laboratories, one focused on thermodynamics and the other on humidification, which are true experts in their respective fields.
Among the group's more than 1,600 employees, 18% work in R&D, and for designers and technicians working at the headquarters in Italy, this figure reaches nearly 25%. Furthermore, 55% of our employees are university graduates, with an average age of 37, confirming our ongoing investment in human resources, particularly young talent, in line with domestic and international trends. Training is another area where we invest significant resources (17,000 hours in 2018), applied across all areas of the company, aimed at enhancing our personnel, whether in soft skills or technical abilities.
Endless reliability
Our responsibility to customers goes far beyond our sales value. The products we develop account for approximately 2% to 10% of the finished product value for customers, depending on the application.
Moreover, for components that are difficult to source from elsewhere, we employ a business continuity system that involves at least two production points for the majority of products. This means that even in extreme situations, we can ensure an uninterrupted supply of components.
The charm of natural growth
CAREL was founded in 1973, and today’s total sales amount to 327 million euros (16.8% more than in 2018). Approximately 80% of sales come from exports, achieved through a wide sales and customer support network. It is particularly noteworthy that we have extensive operations in the Americas (North America and Central/South America), Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Europe; in addition to partners and distributors in 75 countries, we currently have 24 wholly-owned subsidiaries and 9 production sites.
Our customer base exceeds 4,000, with 6,200 active products and an annual production volume of over 7 million units.
